Make sure chairs are not too heavy.
Glass table edges should not be sharp ..it may hurt children.
Avoid delicate glass dinning set for your dinner area.
Avoid heavy metal work chair's.
Make sure the comfortable height of sitting for chairs and working height for table.

Comfortable , well designed and material makes a big difference in looks and use-age of any furniture. More the design is user-friendly more its comfortable to use. Remember .. render your home with simple and atheistic designing rather than complicated and messy designs.
